Having led worship bands and played in local groups for 15 years, I have learned a lot about music and the act it is to praise our Lord. But never once have I felt led to write a melodic composition beyond a guitar riff. "You Are King," is the first song I have written and I know it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I was sitting in church feeling convicted after leading the congregation in song and I couldn't believe my human condition of sin. I thought, "How could I stand in front of all these people, sing these worship songs and miss the point of them?" I was forgetting how important it is to be a follower of Christ. It doesn't need to be praying for hours a day or studying scripture like a bible scholar. Sometimes all I need to do is sing out that God is my King and I believe in His son Jesus Christ. It is that truth that led me to write the single, "You Are King."
